In the summer of 2001 several members of HHI ventured to Mahlapholane in South Africa to hunt plains game. Mahlapholane is located in the Waterburg Mountains north of Pretoria. The hunt was extremely successful with four hunters taking around sixty total animals. Trophy quality was exceptional with the majority of animals record book quality. Accommodations, vehicles, guides and gourmet dining made for a very enjoyable trip. Another African hunt for 2002 is being planned for members.

Jerry Beigel took this 55" Kudu at about 115 yards with a 6.5 JDJ with 125 N.P. Two jumps and a spectacular 50-60 end over end down the mountain was a fitting 70th birthday present.
